If you’re sitting at home bored and looking for a movie to watch consider the film “In Bruges”. Directed by Martin MacDonagh the film centres around two irish hit men who are ordered to lay low in the picturesque belgian town of Bruges after a botched contract. Without giving away too many details the film deals extensively with guilt, penance, and chivalry. The film stars Colin Farrell (Alexander The Great), Brendan Gleeson (Mad Eye Moody), and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort). This film is mildly violent, it is funny, and it is well written. The biggest draw to film for most will be the performances. The film is very well written and the actors do the script justice in every sense of the word. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a film where I’ve hated and loved every character in the film at the same time. There is just something undeniably real that prevails through this ultimately unreal story. Although the cinematography is beautiful and the special effects are good when needed I think it’s the characters that steal the show. Don’t take my word for it the film has been nominated for several awards including the Golden Globes for best picture and best actor (Farrell) and the Academy Award for best original screenplay. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
