Glow in the Dark Rabbits

Saw this a little while ago and thought it was really cool! This summer scientists from the University of Hawaii and the University of Instanbul teamed up to create one of the coolest things I have ever seen, glow in the dark rabbits! The rabbits were created by injecting jellyfish DNA into their embryos while their mother was pregnant with them and as a result some of the litter expressed the glowing phenotype! Scientists hope that their research and experiments will eventually lead to a breakthrough in finding cures for various “uncurable” diseases. There hasn’t been much progress made yet but until a breakthrough is made at least we have some awesome looking rabbits kicking around!

  1. I’m not sure I want to know how somebody came up with this idea, but the result? That’s actually so cool, glowing mammals sound pretty rocking. However, I’m not so fond of the whole testing on animals bit.

  2. I’m so undecided about the whole issue of testing on animals…I understand it is often cruel and painful-but I value human life over animal and the testing has continued/saved/advanced human life in so many ways…
